Why get an Appraisal?

An appraisal is an objective assessment about a rug’s history, value, and identity. It provides you with the information you need if you want to sell, buy, trade or value a rug for personal, insurance, or IRS purposes.

There are many reasons you may want your rug appraised. Maybe you’d like to know more about the history behind a family heirloom, or discover a rug’s historical and cultural significance. For insurance purposes, appraisals are a great way to document your property in the event of a loss. They also give you a fast and objective assessment if you’re thinking of selling or buying an item.

If you’re thinking of donating your objects to charity, an appraisal helps you know your tax deduction. Our appraisals meet IRS substantiation requirements on donations that total less than $5,000 per calendar year. For objects of greater value, you’ll need a more extensive evaluation.

What do I need to do to get an Appraisal?

All you have to do is complete our appraisal request form and upload digital photos of your rug. For a $50.00 fee, you’ll get a digital appraisal certificate within 3 business days.

We also have an option that helps you confidently purchase rugs online (through our Auction Request Form) and option that gives you a quick estimate of your rug’s worth (through our File Upload Form). Each option is $25 and we ask for 48 hours to respond.

For more information about any of these options, please give us a call.

For a traditional appraisal, simply upload photos of your rug and fill out our form below.
